FEBRUARY NOTES FROM THE EVERSWICKS IN HARARE
Dear Praying Friends,
Here we are in the middle of February, already six weeks into the new year. These weeks have been filled with travel, overseas visitors as well as
trying to get a little order to life.
We are doing well here in Harare. Rachelle runs in her school cross country contest tomorrow, Wednesday. Then on Thursday we head east to
Mozambique with Bob and Madeline Blanchard of Timothy Network for a few days together with our Brazilian coworkers in Dondo. This weekend is a long weekend off for Rachelle from school so she will be coming with us.
Before we get any further into the year we would like to share a few things
to pray about:
1. Nido and Helaine. After three months with us in Harare, this new couple from Sao Paolo have made the move to Mozambique where they will be part of a team involved in running a pastors and lay leaders Bible School among other ministries. Pray for them in their efforts to learn the local Sena language these next months. Pray also that they and the couple they work with will work well together as a team.
2. Anna Mortensen has just finished almost a year of intense language and cultural study in preparation for her move to Karanda where she will
join the team of missionaries and nationals at Karanda Mission Hospital. Pray for her in her adjustment to a new situation and new responsibilities.
3. Bud and Mandy Jackson are preparing to come and spend a couple years in Harare providing some initial leadership for our new HIV/AIDS initiative. They are in the process of raising a support base for their move. Would you pray for them in this undertaking.
4. Nancy continues to have many friendships and relationships with which she has great freedom and opportunities to engage in spiritual
discussions and discipleship. Pray for her to be led and enabled by the Holy Spirit in these interactions.
5. This past Saturday Nancy was involved in an accident. She was driving our car when someone ran a stop sign. She swerved to avoid the
vehicle but they still collided. No one was injured but our car is quite damaged. Thank the Lord that Nancy was spared injury and pray that we would find a good repairman.
6. In addition to TEAM related admin and leadership, I (Doug) am glad to have opportunities to speak in churches and serve as an elder in our
church here I Harare. I would appreciate your prayers for God to use me effectively when I share from God’s Word or serve in His church. Last
Tuesday and today I had the privilege of bringing a devotional to some 40+ teachers at the school where Rachelle attends. Next month Nancy will share with these same teachers. Thanks for your prayers.
7. This week we attended the funeral of the mother of one of the young men in our church. His name is Tafi. This year three of his immediate
family have been buried and three of his wife’s family also died. There are young children left without parents or grandparents and huge
responsibilities fall on Tafi and his wife, Gracious. Please pray for them as they grieve and seek God’s provision and leading during these really
difficult times.
8. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers as we travel long roads to Mozambique this week.
