Restreppo Prayer Update September

Posted by Office On September - 3 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Dear Friends,

In this September issue, we want to share the good news from our Church in Murcia.

Last week 7 people were baptized in the Mediterranean and as always that is a great joy, especially when one of those was Mercedes. She was shy, very concerned about her relationship with her family and what they would think or do if she told them she was becoming a Christian. She has tried to explain to her sons that it is not a cult and was worried about a public faith. But now Mercedes is being bold and outspoken, taking the step of public faith in Baptism, PTL.

In the picture is Mercedes with Dimas, our Spanish pastor in stripes on the left. But the one we want to feature today is Rene, the man on the right of the picture. Rene came to Christ in 2000 and has been deacon and now is the assistant pastor of the Murcia church. Rene and his wife, Jenny, are getting ready to go out as our church’s first missionaries. On September 30, they will depart for Bolivia. Please pray for them. The mercies and grace of God in this family is overwhelming, especially when Rene was a drunk and their marriage was about to dissolve, then God stepped in… PTL.
If you like to help Rene and Jenny Cuellar, you may by donating to the “National Workers Fund” at AMG International. Please be sure to specify the family name.

Dear Friends,

We are midway through August already.  School is out of session for Rachelle this month so our family schedule is a bit more relaxed.  It has, however, been a very full month in ministry. We would like to take this opportunity to share a few things with you for your praise and prayer.

  1. PRAISE – The Family camp went well.  About 75 people attended, most of whom we did not know.  The Lord used our family in ministry and used Doug as he spoke six times during the three days together.
  2. PRAISE – Our daughter, Julianne, returned to Cedarville University this past week driving a great little car she was able to buy at a very good price.  Thanks for praying about this after her previous car died this summer.
  3. PRAISE – for good days with friends who came from a church in NJ.  The Lord opened up some fine opportunities for them to get a taste of life and ministry in Zimbabwe.
  4. PRAY – Memory is a friend and is the 29 year old mother of two children. She and her husband also care for two children from a brother who died.  She has been diagnosed with a serious heart valve problem that requires specialist surgery.  Pray for them as they seek options that might be available for her treatment.
  5. PRAY – Two young men from our church are getting married in the coming months.  Pray for them and for Nancy and I as we have significant input into their lives at this point.  May God be at work in them and bless them as they seek to honor God in their marriages.
  6. PRAY – Pray for the Dubert family and Bud and Mandy Jackson as they prepare to come and get established in ministry here in Harare in the coming months.  They will be part of the team leading our ANESU (meaning “He is with us”) initiative ministering in the arena of the fall out from HIV/AIDS.
  7. PRAY – Doug will be speaking one time at a Christian Education conference being held here in Harare during the first week of September.  Pray for a timely word and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
  8. PRAY – Our Brazilian co-workers in Mozambique continue to be under many pressures.  Pray for them, for God to work in them and through them.  Pray that the Lord would provide the necessary encouragement and support as they minister in difficult conditions.

Thanks for bringing these matters to the Lord in prayer.
