Dear friends and fellow soldiers of the Lord,
February 4th begins the first outreach after SCEI’s 50th anniversary. The 44th Master’s Ministry which is going to Panama is sure to be an adventure.
Everyone is packing. They are stuffing their bag with gray softball pants, a glove, spikes and other softball gear. They should have received SCEI shirts and hats in the mail from the headquarters.
Like me everyone is making sure everything at home will be taken care of while they are gone. There are dogs we are leaving behind, houses to get winterized, bills to pay, and other last minute instructions to give to people at work, home and church.
I always make a check list to help me remember all that I must bring. One of the most important things is my passport and the flight departure time. I have forgotten my passport a few times. One time I flew from Nashville to Latin America with a layover in Miami. I realized I did not have my passport and Daniel List had to quickly fly to Fort Lauderdale on Southwest and then take a train to Miami to give it to me before my international flight. Figure that one out.
There is always excitement in the air and so much to remember, but let’s not forget the reason we are going which is Jesus!
In the mist of thinking of ourselves and trying to be responsible we need to think about Jesus! Not just about Him, but focus on what Jesus! might be concerned about. SCEI’s theme for the 50th year is “Do – I - really – love – Jesus?”.
Please be in prayer with me! Pray that the love that you have for Jesus! will be the focus of each person on this ministry. Each thought in our mind and every answer in our conscience being Jesus! Thinking Jesus! even when the itinerary changes, when we are really tired, super hot, when fans come up to you, if you strike out, miss a ball, while carrying the equipment or staying late to go to a convivio after the game which ends at midnight before staring the long trip back to the hotel. These are just a few events that might happen during the Master’s. Pray that we think Jesus!
Let us pray and let our actions show how much we love Jesus! Paul was “persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love! of God which is in Christ Jesus! our Lord”. Romans 8:38-39 Are you persuaded?
