Rich & Judy Olenik January Update

Posted by Office On February - 4 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Dear Friends at Dix Hills,

We hope your winter is going well!

We went to California in January, following the death there of our daughter-in-law Katrina’s step-dad, Kenny Larson, from cancer.  He was only 49 years old.  We praise God that a few months before, Kenny acknowledged his need for a Savior and invited Christ into his heart.  Upon our first visit to the Larson home, Katrina’s grandfather, Chuck, greeted us, sat down and said, “So, tell me about your religion”.  He was very open and we were able to clearly share the gospel with him.  Please pray that Chuck, like his son, will see his need to make a commitment to the Lord.  Pray also that Kenny’s death helps the rest of the family to consider their personal relationship to God.

MAF has been working in Haiti for many years and there were seven families currently serving there.  All of MAF-US staff survived the earthquake.  One Haitian national MAF worker (Daniel) was killed.  Please pray for Daniel’s family.  Please pray for the MAF men who have stayed behind to do what they can in this devastating situation and for other pilots and MAF staff who are now there to help.  Updates and information about the ministries that MAF is involved in in Haiti can be found on the MAF website:  www.maf.org   If you are unable to access the information there please let us know and we will find another way for you to receive it.  Please pray for safety and our ability to coordinate and manage the relief efforts with which we are dealing.  One of our new Kodiak airplanes that had been scheduled to go to Kalimantan, Indonesia has now been sent to Haiti.  Avgas is becoming very expensive and hard to find so having a plane that uses jet fuel but can land in the difficult places where it is needed is invaluable.  You may follow the Kodiak’s daily flight progress at http://www.maf.org/haitikodiak MAF has been able to set up different communication sites that are needed by the many organizations helping in the relief operations.

We pray that God will give you all a very special New Year and bless your ministry.

Together in His service,

Rich & Judy
