Missions Trips

Have you thought about a short term missions trip? Have you heard the testimonies from other DHEFC attendees about their time in Nicaragua? For 10+ years, DHEFC has been sending out teams to minister in Nicaragua—and perhaps during the summer of 2011, it will finally be your turn to go.

Whether visiting babies and children at the local orphanages or assisting laborers at Villa Esperanza (Village of Hope), there will be many opportunities for you and your team to demonstrate God’s love to people in Managua.

While many details have yet to be figured out, the Missions Board encourages you to start with prayer. Perhaps you really want to go, but don’t think you could afford it—pray.  Maybe you have concerns about traveling to a strange place and being removed from your comfort zone—pray. What if your ability to communicate in Spanish is lacking? Pray.

The team will be hosted by Forward Edge Ministries, and will most likely be staying on the property of Villa Esperanza.  For more information, visit the web page: http://www.forwardedge.org/nicaragua/travel.html. Keep praying, and be on the watch for more information. Talk to people who have gone before and ask them to share their experiences with you.

Looking for a few good builders for our Missions Nicaragua ’11 trip:  Many of you will remember the Sunday presentation by our friends Tim and Chris Bagwell around Thanksgiving.  For me, the most gripping part of their story was watching the video footage and stories about the young children and people suffering in the village of Cristo Ray. You saw interviews with orphans  and families who did not have roofs or food. We’ve been invited back to Nicaragua by Tim and Chris Bagwell for a week of construction and service. We’re at the beginning stages of preparation but we’re looking at going to Nicaragua August 6-14th with a team of workers to build several (we’re dreaming and praying 10!) houses as well as working in the Nutrition Center to feed malnourished kids.  This is an adult trip that is open to senior high students and above.  We’re looking for people who are able and willing to work hard at building houses and feeding kids. Check out www.NewLifeNicaragua.org for picture and video of where we’ll be going. Prayerfully consider being a part of this trip. This trip will stretch you and help people in desperate need. We have info/applications packets in the foyer—pick one up and pray over it.  We need team members to make a decision and a deposit by March 6th.
